Musings on Indian Film Music

Recently Slumdog has captured the imagination of the Egotistic Indian public. Yes we can grab the attention of the gullible public by manipulating the media and the influencing the award committees by engaging agents for the job.American Style. It's an open secret.Even governments do such things in the world forums like UN,WORLD BANK. I remember the promotional efforts taken by Amir Khan for Lagaan. In this background it doesn't need any intelligence to understand what could have happened at the Golden Globe Awards.
Yes the gazal maestro is right. The youngish movie goers are blindfolded by the phony personality of this MD.His real character is not known to people outside TN.He has skillfully managed to get more than his due.Like Manirathnam,Subhash Ghai this person also jump on to current hot issues to garner the maximum mileage. He has never joined hands with new comers to experiment his talents.Big houses big stars and big money, that's the secret of his popularity. He is a self-serving fame-hungry maniac let loose by the globalizational forces. The same public will be flabbergasted soon by his high-handedness shuttling between regions taking months and months to compose music for a single movie keeping the anxious producers wait with tension. It’s a carefully crafted strategy which no other music director has ever attempted in this country. I don't think this is good for indian music. Can anyone forget RD,LP,KA.Can we expect such melodies from this khichedi MD.I remember an incident involving this godsent MD at London. He just could not perform a live program and walked away excusing himself.Such is his greatness. Why nobody is remembering that.No one ever blasted him for that failure as an Indian. God save this country's musical traditions from ruin.
